As far as the idle speed, I'd just do it by ear. If it dies at idle, speed it up a bit. It should just have a nice steady pap-pap-pap. How I adjusted my idle mixture screw is as follows (do it this way if it's not at the factory setting, or if you forgot where it's set). Turn it in until it's closed. Don't force it! Just until it stops turning easily.
Then open it up one and a half turns or so. If it wants to fart when you shut it down, turn it out in increments until it stops. I found that I couldn't really guage whether mine was set right or not without a good 30-mile run to warm it up good and settle it in. Good excuse, eh?
